The Flip Flip Side of “The Bus Ride”

The young man needed a break,

he really did.

He must have thought me God sent,

in this, his desperate state.

We came off the bus at the final stop

and started the search for change,

he explained this had been the second bus

upon which he’d been turned away,

he was late for work and just needed the help

and promised to make amends.

We found a kind merchant who gave him the change

and he offered me thrice. what on his behalf, I had paid.

I refused, absolutely, and told him its ok,

I was just glad to be there, to help in some way.
